1. Nordic mid-century modern
Mid-century modern (or ‘retro’) is a style that just gets better and better with age. For the last few years, the retro look has been making a comeback. And it’s all thanks to Danish designers.
Nordic furniture designers are highlighting the oh-so-cool vibes of button-back upholstery, tapered legs in polished oak timber, and squared sofa shapes. We love it.

2. Lighting that makes a statement
Drawing on French provincial’s flair for the dramatic and demure, we’re seeing a lot of feature lighting trending this season.
Think chandeliers, but also cork and concrete pendant lights and sculptural designs that make you (and your guests) say ‘wow’.

3. Earthy terracotta and jewel tones
For a colour palette that has more organic character, we love the trend of terracotta – and we don’t mean the material!
An Italian-inspired trend adopted by Danish designers, terracotta tones are warm and antiquated, and work fantastically with pops of contrasting emerald or sapphire for a rich aesthetic.

4. Back in black
Dramatic black furniture and décor was first found with an urban, New York metro vibe but has been picked up by Nordic designers to create stark contrasts.
Floor lamps, side tables and even leather-upholstered sofas look divine in the deepest black tone. Grounded and luxe = divine.

5. The Danish idea of ‘Hygge’
By far our favourite current trend is the lifestyle concept of ‘hygge’ (pronounced ‘who-geh’). While it isn’t really a design or fashion feature, it is about how we enjoy our homes and our lives.
Hygge doesn’t have a direct translation, but it’s that warm and happy feeling that you get when you enjoy the little things around you.
The feeling you get when you see that antique, heirloom vase you inherited; the feel of running your fingers through a plush, sheepskin rug; indulging in dinner and drinks with family and friends.
That’s hygge. And it’s our new favourite thing.
