June is particularly special because it is one of only two months in the year that is associated with three different gems. More jewels? We like the sound of that 😉
Typically, June’s most popular birthstone is the pearl. As beautiful and timeless as it is, there are also the alexandrite and moonstone gems that are gifted to those born in the month of June.
Most of us have seen pearls worn by royalty and celebrities alike. Their opalescent appeal is truly classic. The creamy white beauties are the only gems made by living creatures – molluscs and clams.
The moonstone, as the name suggests, has the appearance of a shimmering moon. It’s similar to the appearance of a pearl but its microscopic layers produce subtle colours from grey to blush to blue.
