Despite its fresh contemporary style, chevron dates back to ancient Greek times. It was discovered on pottery, rock carvings and other archeological finds from Crete circa 1800BC. The V-shaped line or stripe has featured throughout history as an architectural fret as well as adorning coats of arms and registering rank on military uniforms (love a man in… ;).

The marriage between fashion and interior design is long-standing. Here a chevron floorcovering make a delicious statement piece in a modern interior, adding retro flair, via Missoni fashion via

Founded in 1953 by husband and wife team Rosita and Tai, Missoni reached the height of its influence within the fashion world in the early seventies. It was renown for the kaleidoscopic colours and geometric patterns of its knitwear. (Nice!) This pattern became Missoni’s unofficial signature print.

Mixing and matching patterns and prints creates interest in your space. Pair a zig-zag rug with a tribal-inspired cushion or throw to mix it up. Knit your own cushion or let someone else do the hard work and reap the benefits. Ikat, narrow or tone-on-tone chevron offer chic variations from the basic pattern, while herringbone seems like a more sophisticated print.
